Sewerage Anti-Overflow Systems

Flood Claims and Furry Friends – Fitting Drainage Non-Return ValvesData from the insurance industry would suggest that nearly fifty per cent of all flood claims are due to back-filling of sewerage pipes.
This causes a property to be flooded with ‘foul’ water from the inside by flowing back via toilets, plug holes, waste pipes and other underground entry point.

NON-RETURN VALVES

Non return valves or backwater valves are used within sewerage and drainage systems to eliminate the risk of flood damage by the backflow of sewage or flood water into properties through low level entries such as low level drain gullies, toilets and washing machine outlets. The Environment Agency in their publication on
damage limitation for properties at risk from flooding and the Government guidance note “Preparing for
Floods” both recommend the installation of non-return valves (anti-flooding devices) on all such drains and
sewers.

  non return valves

The Building Regulations 2000, Approved Document H, recommends the installation of non-return valves on
drains from basements in low risk areas and on all drains in areas with a high risk of flooding or sewer
surcharge.

These valves are also used in commercial and industrial application where non-pressure flow control is
required (e.g. fish farming)

Vertical non return backwater valve

All backwater valves available on the market are designed for mounting on a horizontal drain pipe, while often the only place for their assembly is a vertical pipe. This newly developed non return backwater valve is for vertical mounting.

A vertical mounted backwater valve is a cost effective way to protect a building against flooding caused by backflow of storm water and sewage.

Effectively protect plumbing systems against rats entering the buildings.

All metal elements are made of high quality chromium-nickel stainless steel.

Fully self activating.

Lock down lever to manually shut off.

Drainage flap valves are made from polypropylene of the highest quality with a supplemented regulator which increases the resistance to sunlight as well as other atmospheric factors.

Polypropylene is harmless to the natural environment, resistant to high temperatures up to 95 degrees celcius as well as aggresive chemical agents present in plant protection products.

Backflow/Non Return Valve Flood Prevention

Flood damage can prove very expensive. Prevention is far more cost-effective. These economically priced EN certified valves prevent backflow into residential and commercial premises via the drain systems, toilets or sewers.

The backflow valves can be installed in horizontal sewage pipes within the building or in manholes/access chambers outside the building
